Niemann's History and Toffee History of Niemann's Candies Almond Butter Crunch
Photograph of Father and son making candies by hand   Niemanns Candies was started in 1919 by our great grandfather Frederick Niemann near the old Colonial Theater here in Milwaukee. One of the candies Great-granddad started to make was Colonial Crunch, an almond toffee recipe he concocted with lots of almonds and cooked at the high temperature of 300 degrees. This is the secret to the excellent eating characteristics of the toffee - unusually tender and full of flavor. He made the finest candies, using no short cuts. Each candy was made carefully in the Old World, hands-on way: by sight, smell, and feel. Some things have changed since 1919, but the superior quality of Niemanns candies has not. We are still devoted to using only the finest ingredients in generous recipes and making it all by hand. That wonderful flavor of Niemanns candies is your proof of our dedication.
